Apr 19, Posts: Any idea where I could find other versions auddio the driver? If I try a search with the Add New Hardware wizard, it doesn’t find any new hardware either. I’m going to look up the KB number on the msdn and see what I find.

Thu Jun 15, 8: Asus K8N-VM sound driver problems 10 posts. The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware. I ended up disabling the onboard sound and using an old soundblaster pci card that was lying around.
I edited out xudio other line after checking Asus’ website. If you uninstalled audio software without restarting your PC, restart now then run this setup again.
Did you restart after installing the included driver? Are you sure there was only one downloadable item? So problem solved, I guess. Am I looking in the right place?
Asus K8N-VM sound driver problems
After I audil the soundblaster card, Windows detected and installed the drivers for the card without a problem. That might work for you. I’m not sure if this is also related. Agreed, if you cant get the sound to work RMA it, once there is one problem on a mobo it is not long before you will have other problems, IMO atleast.

Ok try this one Nforce Driver coming up http: Okay, now I remember. I audiio restart after installing the included driver. The driver ASUS includes is version Oct 29, Posts: The update keeps failing on the Windows Security update KB You need to try either a later or newer version of the driver and run the install.

Everything works fine for the most part except for the onboard sound, which I can’t get the driver that came with the motherboard to recognize. Initially when I tried to install the sound driver I got the error message: The specified location does not contain information about your hardware. I’m tempted to reinstall Windows again since I didn’t encounter the failed security update before.
Using the INF file in the driver package, I get this error message: Would that change the driver files that are displayed? If you uninstalled audio software without restarting your PC, restart now then run this setup again After reading a forum post I found on google I tried to install the driver through the Device Manager.
I have noticed that Asus doesnt really gel well with their Nvidia chipset boards so always try updates from nVidia if the Asus ones dont work.
Mon Jun 19, 9: I’ll reinstall the driver, reboot, then check windows update and see if something is there. Any help is appreciated.
