Mutisale analysis from remote sensing

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Le Wang, assistant professor of Texas State geography, Ph.D. from berkley, give us a presentation about his research work today.

The presentation introduces his current research:

  1. Mutiscale forest characterization from remote sensing: extracting
the ecological index such as diameter, height and so on. Using such
method, he carried out research about mangrove  classification nearby
    Mexico Bay.
  2. The inbreak of saltceder (also called tamarisk, a type of shrub
which need a lot of water and cause the soil saline) along the Rio
  3. How to extract population amount from remote sensing in Texas.

All of these works need high and coarse resolution together. By the way, the IKONOS image usually cannot fit the research and higher resolution images (such as Quickbird) are needed. We can see the distance about the research advance between them and us. Also, Mr Wang said that not only is the depth of research important, but also the breadth. We should present the audience a whole picture about your work, not the method, but the story at the same time.

Cooking is not a hard work but hard to do well.
The experience of Xiaoming and Darktemplar arouse my passion to do cooking. Yesterday, I challenged to do cooking work in tsing‘s rent room.

The last experience of cooking was about 4 years ago when I was in the senior middle school. I am not interested in the houseworks except cooking. You maybe ask me “why”. The reason is I hate other houseworks more, especially cleaning the dishes after dinners. However, when I do the cooking work, I have no need to do other houseworks and enjoy the praise and encouragement all the same time.

This Saturday’s meal includes Ma-yi-shang-shu (ants on the tree), Tian-jiao-chao-rou (saute meat with pepper), Wan-zi-tang (meat ball soup), Shuan-wei-kong-xin-cai (saute Water spinach) and tang-ban-xi-hong-shi (sugarish tomato). I also dream of Zhu-xia (boiled shrimp), but the shopping mall is far away and the weather is awful; so give it up.

The meal is the Sichuan flavor, I think it will not be accepted by all my friends. But out of my mind, it is welcome by all the friends and nothing left at last. Maybe I’ve an inherence to do the cooking.
